This is how they work most often. In the air around us there are always very small airborne particles which you cannot see with the naked eye and these are then attracted to the ionizer’s electrode using a method that is similar in effect to that caused by static electricity. This process ionizes the particles and normally these ions would be de-ionized just by touching earthed conductors located nearby such as the walls and ceilings in your home. Many of today’s more common air purifiers and air cleaners actually mostly have a built-in or separate independent air ionizer that helps in the process of trapping any airborne particles that exist in the local atmosphere around its location. This helps it to much more efficiently clean and therefore greatly improve the quality of the air in your home.

Consider also ionizing purifiers, which are air purifiers using a scientific method called corona discharge to create charged molecules in the air flow called ions. This is a very small and very strong electrical field that causes any molecules that pass through it to pick up an additional electron due to the high voltage and this then gives these molecules a negative charge.
